CARERS ALLOWANCE

You may be entitled to a carers allowance if you look after someone for more than 35 hours a week and that person is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance at the middle or higher rate.  This is currently paid at £62.10 per week.  Click on the link for more information

LOOKING-AFTER-ME COURSE

“Provide” runs a free Looking-After-Me course under their Expert Patient Program - for people who care for someone with a long-term condition or disability.  They also run other free courses such as Challenging-Pain workshops - to help you understand what pain is and how to deal with it. Althought not specific to those with a learning disability these courses may be useful to carers and those who develop long term illness. DISABLED TOILET ACCESS NATIONAL KEY SCHEME (NKS RADAR KEY)

The National Key Scheme (NKS) offers disabled people independent access to locked public toilets around the country. Toilets fitted with National Key Scheme (NKS) locks can now be found in shopping centres, pubs, cafés, department stores, bus and train stations and many other locations in most parts of the country. CINEMA EXHIBITORS CARD
